I'd been waiting in Express for far longer than my feeble attention span could ever hope to last. I spun the prop disco ball in my hands and stared into it, standing across the counter from the register. The cashier kept glancing up at me and giggling.

The disco ball was just a foam sphere with hundreds of tiny mirrors glued to it. I stopped spinning the thing and looked at it before saying, "When you look at this it magnifies just tiny pieces of your face in the shape of your head. It's kinda gross."

"Please put that back," she said.
