Nothing else with sound has any issues, just Progeny.
I'm afraid I'm not comfortable running a system information gathering program on my brand new computer. I'll see if I can find how to get some of that information manually. What do you need, specifically?
And it auto updates everything it can every morning (drives me crazy) so the software is as up to date as possible as of this morning.

For the most part, getting this information would be useful for you so you could update your sound drivers. I'm interested in motherboard/sound card info at the moment, but in all honesty I have no idea what I could do to fix your issues given that information as the sound libraries I use are written by other folks. irrKlang especially is made to be compatible with all machines, so if you're having issues I can't do much more than report them as a bug once I get more information. The only information that CPU-Z gathers is your hardware specs, and it only shows them to you. I used it to figure out my motherboard model number so I could go and update my audio drivers... and I actually bought my motherboard, so the only reason I did it was because I was too lazy to find the box or look up my invoice . The app seems widely used and non-bad.

I ran it, but I honestly have no idea which part of the information it spit out is supposed to tell me what my sound driver is.

fruglemonkey: good to know this is fixing it for more folks than my test computer. I'll post the beta to the site once I'm home. Tiffany: If you have an external sound card, it will tell you your sound card model. Otherwise, just look at your motherboard info, go to the manufacturer's website and download the most recent drivers for that motherboard. Also, what OS are you using? Just XP? You said you have a new computer so that set off my Vista-sense .

Yes, XP. I avoided Vista.

I checked the website. it shows no driver updates for my motherboard. Really starting to think I'm s.o.l. on this one.

Audio drivers are often listed differently than the main motherboard drivers, so I'd keep an eye out for that, but otherwise, yeah, there's not much I can do to fix it without more information since I can't reproduce it on any machine I have access to.
Feel free to just e-mail your hardware specs to me (can they be saved to a text file easily in CPU-Z? I imagine so but don't remember off-hand) if you don't want to share them here. Alternatively, since you got a compy in a box, what brand/model number is it (also, have you tried looking up audio drivers via that data)?

Tiffany, I've just released 0.6.4, which I hope will stop your app from actually crashing when irrKlang fails (I haven't been able to test that myself, unforunately). It also prints debug irrKlang's error information to the console, so hopefully that will help you and I figure out your problem. You can read more about it (and download it) here.

The same. Black window pops up for a second then dissapears. 0.6.2b at least ran, though without sound.
My computer is a Dell Inspririon 530 with WinXP Home Edition.
I didn't see a save as text option on the CPU-Z readout, though there were instructions on the website on how to get it to automatically run that way. Honestly, they're beyond me. I did screencap the results, though. I'll email it to you.

There are two Audio downloads available for your model of Dell at Dell's Inspiron 530 Driver Download Page. Do you have that Realtek Driver? I didn't see any mention of your audio card in the specs so I'm assuming you don't have a Sound Blaster X-treme gamer card .

I do have the realtek, and it already has that driver installed.
I reinstalled it for good measure. No change.
